Lesson One
Answer Key
1. His
name in the Hebrew language was Johoshua meaning, whose help is Jehovah;
help of Jehovah, or Savior.
Jesus is the Greek form of the name Joshua, or Jeshua, a contraction
of Johoshua which as stated above is, help of Jehovah, or Savior.
2. Christ
is the Greek word for Messiah, Annointed, i.e., The Messiah or Anointed One.
3. Jesus
was born of a Virgin.
4. A
Virgin has never had a sexual encounter with a man.
A young woman on the other hand is
not necessarily a virgin.
5. If
Jesus was not born of a virgin as was prophesied in Isaiah 7:14, He does not
qualify as the Messiah, but would be just another mortal man.
6. The
Holy Ghost came upon her and in a creative sense at which time she conceived
in her womb, and was thus impregnated
with the Son of God
7. Joseph,
as the husband of Mary, was therefore the step-father of Jesus.
8. Jesus
was born in Bethlehem thus fulfilling prophecy as stated in Micah 5:2.
9.
Bethlehem in the Hebrew language means House of Bread, which is fitting
insomuch that Jesus Christ is the
Bread of Life.
10. When the Wise Men from the East found Jesus, he was
in a house contrary to the traditional
Christmas scene of Him in a manger as it is so often depicted.
(Matthew 2:11)
11. Prior
to living in Nazareth, Jesus lived in Egypt.
12. Jesus
was living in Egypt for two reasons:
(1) To escape Herods plan to kill Him,
and
(2) that prophecy might be
fulfilled. (Matt 2:15)
13. Jesus
had four brothers which are named in scripture, we are not told how many
sisters He had.
14. The
brothers and sisters of Jesus were from a human point of view, half brothers
and sisters.
