Answer Key
Jesus Christ - The Mission and Commission
I.
Read Luke 19:10
1. Luke 19:10 reveals that Jesus Christ came to earth to manifest God in
the flesh, and
to seek and save that which
was lost.
II.
After referencing the passages for this weeks message you were to
answer the questions provided.
1.
God is preparing a marriage feast for His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ
who has come inviting all who will, to be reconciled to God, through
Himself, Jesus Christ, by being Born Again
(John 3:7) so that they may attend this great wedding feast in the future.
2.
God is not willing that any should perish. (2 Peter 3:9) Therefore,
many are called, but unfortunately few respond to the call. Those who
respond to the call are chosen, Born Again and secure in Jesus Christ.
3.
It is foolish to assume that he would have purchased a piece of land
without having first examined it, therefore his excuse is without merit. His
property hindered him in his response to the invitation.
4.
Likewise, the one who used his purchase of a yoke of oxen is without
merit. It is most unlikely that he would have purchased oxen unseen. His
possessions hindered him in his response to the invitation.
5.
His response is invalid. He could have no doubt taken his wife with
him, he therefore permitted a relationship to hinder him in his response to
the invitation.
6.
Israel, from time to time, allowed the possession of the land that
God had given them, to hinder them in their walk with Jehovah. Likewise, He
so abundantly blessed them, that at times their prosperity and their possessions hindered them in their walk with him. We,
in our day, often make the same identical mistakes.
7.
(1) He was angry that his invitation had been refused.
(2) He sent his servants out into the
streets and lanes of the city and surrounding area, to bring in those who
would not normally have been invited.
8.
He was a compassionate man, and determined to fill this house with
all those who would receive his invitation. In like manner, God is willing
fill His House with all who will receive His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, in the invitation
to be Born-Again.
9. Those who refused the invitation could not attend the festive
occasion. Likewise, those who refuse the new birth
in Jesus Christ, can never be accepted into the presence of God in eternity.
12.
The cross would take you to death, death to self, so that you might live for Him.
13.
The difference between His cross and your cross is that, it was on His
cross that the penalty for our sins was paid in full. None other can bear the
Cross of Christ. Our cross is simply a way of saying that we are to lay down our
life in order to live for Him and follow Him.
14.
The one who refuses to place the commands and desires of Christ above his
own desires and who refuses to be willing to submit their life to his Lordship
cannot be his disciple.
(1) Subjective.
15.
One should take into consideration what their following Christ might cost
them. They should count the cost of following Christ and determine whether or
not they are willing to pay that price.
(1) Luke 14:28-32 counting the cost
means that each of us as individuals must personally count the cost of walking
closely, intimately, in fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ and be counted as
one of His.
16.
Luke 14:33 teaches us that we should allow no possession, nor position,
nor any person to interfere in our intimate ongoing fellowship with the Lord
Jesus Christ in our commitment to Him.
17. Subjective. If possible, you were to list three excuses you have heard from those who refused to receive Christ Jesus as their Savior, and state why you thought their excuses were without merit.
18.
Subjective. You were to list
two excuses you have used for not bearing your cross
and following Christ Jesus, or that you have heard others use that were without
merit.
19.
It would appear that He had those outside the camp of Israel, that is,
Gentiles, in mind.
20.
We were spiritually the maimed, the halt, the blind, and the
poor, and as such were not eligible to attend the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
21.
Jesus is the one who brings the invitation of God the Father to mankind,
to attend the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, by being Born Again,
and provides the means by which one can be Born Again.
22.
Our job is, as was the servants, is to go out into the highways and
hedges and the lanes of the city, into every area of life, and invite people
into the Kingdom of God.
