Jesus and His Ministry - The Healing of The Paralytic

1. Mark 2:1 2 reveals that Jesus was highly esteemed among the people, and that people flocked to hear Him to hear Him teach and to receive of
    His ministry.

2. Subjective.

3. Jesus is the Word of God Incarnate and use the Scriptures as He talked, explaining them in a way that the masses could understand and using
parables to illustrate the spiritual truths He taught.

    (1) John 1:1 reveals that Jesus is the Word of God Incarnate.

4. The paralytic had friends that were willing to go to any extent, and to any effort to get him in the presence of Jesus Christ.

    (1) They were willing to overcome every obstacle to get their friend in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.

     (2) His desire to be brought before Jesus and his trust in his friends was such that he was willing to allow them to go to the efforts they did to
place him in front of Jesus.

     (3) The only way that this paralytic could assist his friends was to give his consent to get him before Jesus in the manner in which they did.

5. One who is unsaved has no strength in and of themselves, nor for that matter the knowledge, to present themselves before the Lord Jesus Christ.
The unsaved man simply cannot understand or comprehend the things of God, and therefore, needs someone who will help him into the presence
of the Lord Jesus Christ, through their testimony, their witnessing, and their love and intercessory prayers.

    (1) Inasmuch as the one who is unsaved cannot, in and of themselves, come to Christ, they need assistance in getting to Christ.

6. The one who is unsaved desperately needs friends who love them enough and who will spare no effort, in getting them into the presence of the
    Lord Jesus Christ.

    (1) Subjective

    (2) Subjective

    (3) Subjective

    (4) Scripture reveals that those who are unsaved have been blinded by the God of this world (Satan - 2 Cor 4:4) to prevent them from receiving
the glorious light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The accordingly, need someone to help guide them into the presence and into and
understanding of the Scriptures and the Lord Jesus Christ, so that they might receive sight and be born-again.

7. It is apparent that Jesus saw the faith of all concerned, the paralytic as well as the friends who brought him.

    (1) Subjective

    (2) Subjective

8. According to the doctrine of the Jews the physical condition was directly related to the spiritual condition. In their thinking the physical condition
could not be healed unless the spiritual condition was healed through forgiveness of sin. Only God could and can forgive sin, therefore Christ
spoke to the mans spiritual condition first, telling him his sins were forgiven, before he spoke to the physical condition. It would become apparent
according to their own reasoning, that the sins had been forgiven if the physical was healed. That should have been conclusive evidence for them,
according to their own doctrine, that Jesus was the Messiah, God in the Flesh.

9. Mark 2:6 7 were setting themselves up in their reasoning in that, by their own reasoning, only God can forgive sin. By their own reasoning,
healing could not occur unless forgiveness of sin occurred. Therefore when physical healing occurred, by their own reasoning, spiritual healing,
i.e. forgiveness of sin, must have just occurred. Therefore, Jesus must be the Messiah according to their own reasoning.

10. Mark 2: 8 reveals that Jesus knows all the thoughts and intents of the heart.

     (1) I Corinthians 12:1 - 11 enumerates the gifts of the Spirit to the church. All the gifts of the Spirit were operative in the Lord Jesus Christ.
They are likewise operative in the body of Christ, the church on earth today!

11. In the question of Jesus to the Scribes in Mark 2:9, it is apparent that both physical healing as well as spiritual healing are both equally
accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ. However, it would appear from the Scriptures that at times there must be a willingness on the part of
the recipient to receive either one.

12. His actions and His words on that day should have proved to the Scribes beyond any doubt that He was the expected Messiah. However, it
would appear in the hostility of their actions and attitudes towards Him, throughout His entire life on earth and His ministry that they only
became more hardened and hostile towards Him.

13. Upon the paralytic receiving his healing, the Scribes should have recognized, without any doubt, that they had just seen the power of God
manifested in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that obviously, according to their doctrine, the sins had to be forgiven in order for the healing to take
place and they should have therefore received him as the Messiah.

14. Mark 2:12 assures us that those in attendance that day, other than the Scribes and Pharisees, were amazed at what they saw and they glorified
      God.
