The Doctrine of God - Part III
Scripture Reading: The Gospel of Luke and John Chapter Eleven
Memory Verse: John 4:24
Lesson Objective: To
better understand how God identified with man, so that man could better identify
with Him.
Introduction: In
our previous studies on the
Doctrine of God we made some interesting discoveries and observations concerning
God and Light. We have questioned ourselves, asking ourelves, on what basis we
have determined that God exists.
In doing so we had to face the
reality that all of creation speaks of a "Creator". The very
existence of man himself demands a "Creator". The Word of God, the
Scriptures tell us of this Creator, Jerhovah-God! The Scriptures reveal to us the
existence of God, and the veracity of thescriptures are borne out in the
universe, in all of creation, in the creation of man himself. And,we
always bear in mind, that, that which is created is never greater than the
creator!
In our study this far we have observed that God is:
(1) Omnipresent, which means that God is "everywhere present at all times,"
(2) Omniscient, which means that God is "all knowing" and,
(3) Omnipotent, which means that God is "all powerful."
When we speak of the attributes of God, we mean His "inherent characteristics." When we speak of His essence, we mean His individual, real, and ultimate nature.
By having a better understanding of His attributes, His
Characteristics and nature, we can better relate to Him and identify with Him as our Heavenly
Father.
With those thoughts in mind
approach the following assignment prayerfully.
1. Paraphrase in your own words John 4:24.
2. The Bible gives us insight into God as a personality.
In the following, complete the sentence by writing in the
specific emotion that God feels as described in the scripture.
(1) John 3:16 reveals that God
(2) Proverbs 6:16 reveals that God
(3) I Peter 5:5 reveals that God
(4) Genesis 6:6 reveals that God
3. Paraphrase John 10:30.
4. Paraphrase Hebrews 1:1-3.
5. Paraphrase Heb 9:22.
6. In light of what you have now studied concerning God, the Father, and God,
the Son, paraphrase the following verses.
Heb 4:14
Heb 4:15
Heb
4:16
Conclusion: God is a Spirit. God became man. God is revealed in Jesus, The Christ. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. When you more fully understand that God completely identified Himself with man in Jesus Christ, so that man can be completely identified with God in Jesus Christ, you are well on your way to a closer walk with God. Be blessed as you continue to "grow in the Lord"!
