Lesson Objective: To discover those things that
hinder the ministry of the Holy Spirit to us, in us, and through us.
Introduction: Beyond all doubt and dispute, the Holy
Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, co-equal with God the
Father, and God the Son, Christ Jesus.
As such, He must be accorded all the honor and respect as the other
two members of the Trinity, (often referred to as the Godhead) are accorded.
Again, He is co-equal with both the Father and the Son, and He too
plays a vital and important role in our lives.
He leads us into all truth.
He reveals the hidden, and illumines our minds.
He comforts, guides, directs and assists us in our prayers as well.
He reveals the Word of God to us.
He searches out the mind of the Father and our own hearts.
He gifts and empowers us for service in ministry.
In short, we cannot function as Christians in any measure of
peace, joy, victory and ability without His ministry to us and through us.
As part of this study we will discover that which
quenches the Holy Spirit, and that which Grieves the Holy Spirit, thereby
limiting His ministry to us and through us.
Quench defined: To suppress, to stifle the Divine
influence.
Grieve defined: To make sorrowful, to affect with
sadness, cause grief, to offend.

Conclusion: The Holy Spirit is a person!
He can be offended!
He can be grieved! His
ministry in our lives can be severely hindered in our lives when we quench or
grieve Him.
To have known, unconfessed sin in the life offends,
quenches, grieves and stifles Him.
We are then the losers, for through our ongoing rebellion we limit Him in our
lives.
